I'm proud of myself............

For the past 24 years, I have managed to not watch Dan Rather report his version of the news. That's right- I have never seen Dan Rather report the news.

Did I miss anything? ............I don't think so.

What's the frequency Kenneth?

.............don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out Dan.

Oy there;
For years, I have(more or less happily) consumed my news from domestic outlets. Occasionally, I'd be bothered by the suspicion that I was getting info skewed toward a specific viewpoint or purpose. I've occasionally checked other, competing outlets in an effort to get balanced opinions.
Some time ago, I discovered BBC news on PBS in the morning. I let it on in the background, as the kids are sleepily getting ready for school. They occasionally perk up when soccer stories come on, or when I make it a point to discuss some viewpoint that diverges from the standard American line, but other than that, they just unwittingly absorb it. As a kid, the local easy listening station played in our kitchen day and night. I usually ignored or hated it, but came to appreciate a wide range of music I wouldn't otherwise have heard.
Broaden your viewpoint:^)

P.S. I wonder if there's an English language version of Al Jezeera?
